Obituary

Shirley L. Sols, 89, went home to be with the Lord and passed away peacefully at Willowbend Healthcare in Marion on Sept 23, 2026.

Shirley was born to Carl Berry and Frankie Pool Washburn of Missouri. She was a member of the Osceola First Baptist Church. Though she experienced hardships and heartaches during her life she remained strong. Her faith in the Lord and her love for family and others is what made her resilient. She brought her girls up in church in Luxora and taught them about Jesus at a very early age. She loved to sing hymns at church and her girls also enjoyed singing. Even though she was quiet, she had such a kind sweet spirit. Everyone she met loved her. As a devoted mom, Nanaw and friend she always put everyone’s needs first because that’s just who she was. Her family and grandchildren were very special to her. She also provided care for many children over the years. Shirley loved spending time with family and going to flea markets and antique shops. We would laugh and say I’d rather shop than eat when I’m hungry. We always shopped till we dropped. Her home and her yard displayed her love for all her special finds. Shirley will always be remembered for her green thumb. Everyone who knew Shirley knew how much she loved beautiful flowers. She enjoyed planting flowers and nurturing her flower gardens, which were also enjoyed by neighbors and the community. She passed this Love of gardening down to her daughters and granddaughter. She was especially fond of watching her hummingbirds which visited her gardens.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Shelia Clark and Penny Baker, brothers Carl Wayne, Berry, and James D Foster, and one grandchild.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory, one daughter; Melody McArthur of Osceola, grandchildren; Chad Clark of Luxora, Dustin Clark of South Haven, Mississippi, Candace Hardie (James) of Rose Bud, Arkansas, Tyler Dunegan (Carolyn) of Osceola, great grandchildren; Hunter Brown, Kaitlyn Davis (Dillon), Jaycie Hardie, Annabelle Griffin (Brandon), Karley Clark, Crews Clark, Trey Dunegan , Anneliese Dunegan, Mason Dunegan, Blaze Wood and River Wood and three great great grandchildren .She also leaves behind sisters Norma Foster Cox and Sandra Foster Hayes, brothers Linn Berry, Bill Berry and George Foster, and many other relatives as well as host of friends at Willowbend.
