Obituary

LaDonnia was born on March 9, 1956 in Malvern, Arkansas. She departed this world on September 13, 2026 at home surrounded by her family after a brief but fierce battle with cancer, which she faced with the same courage and grace that defined her life. LaDonnia was the daughter of Roy May Sr. and Lorene Vaughn May Carter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roy May Jr., who she has now joined in eternal rest. Her earthly journey is survived by her husband, the love of her life, of nearly 40 years, Jimmy Burnett. Their relationship was a testament to a love that transcends time. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and joy, cherished by their daughters: Machelle Graham of Nashville, Tennessee, Audrey (Sherman) Plunkett of Clarkton, Missouri, and Melissa (Karl) Thorn of Leachville, Arkansas. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Rachel Shirley, Jillian Graham, Ashlynn Plunkett, Riley Plunkett, Conner Smith, and Paisley Plunkett, along with five great grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. A proud graduate of Leola High School, LaDonnia was the only girl in a class of six, a reflection of her unique spirit and determination. She furthered her education at Cotton Boll Technical Institute, where she earned a certificate in Computerized Accounting and was celebrated as the "Most Outstanding Student." Her professional life was one of dedication and service, as she faithfully served Mississippi County, Arkansas, as Deputy Tax Collector for 23 years until her retirement in March 2026. LaDonnia was deeply devoted to her faith. The daughter of two Church of God ministers, she gave her heart to the Lord at the tender age of 17. For 40 years, she was a treasured member of Etowah PCOG, serving as the Ladies' Leader before joining Genesis PCOG, where she led singing and served in any capacity needed. Her life was a testament to the love and grace that she exemplified, treating everyone she encountered with respect and dignity. Beyond her career and faith, LaDonnia had a passion for reading and travel, but her greatest joy came from her family, spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her kindness was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her, embodying the love that Jesus commands of us. Visitation will be September 16, 2026 from 5:00-8:00pm and a celebration of life will be held on September 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1323 W. Keiser Ave, Osceola, Arkansas. LaDonnia's life was a beautiful symphony of love, faith, and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
