David Julius Person passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 62. David was born on April 2, 1964 in Osceola, Arkansas, to James Person and Estella Tibbs. He possessed a quiet nature, an extraordinary mind and a remarkable intelligence that gave him the potential to make a lasting impact on the world. Those who knew David admired not only his intellect but also his calm spirit, kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. In his younger years, David had a deep love for basketball. His exceptional talent on the court earned him the nickname "Bid Dave", a name that reflected both his presence and the respect he earned from those around him. As we remember David's life, may his memory remind us of how precious and fleeting life truly is. Let his passing inspire us to cherish every moment with those we love, to extend grace through misunderstandings, to forgive and to never take tomorrow for granted. David leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Erica Brown and Zachary Haymon, both of Osceola, Arkansas, four brothers, George Renzy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Darrell Person, Sylvester Person and Ronnie Person all of Sioux City, Iowa, four sisters, Ora L. Renzy of Memphis, Tennessee, Jurdean Renzy of Louisville, Kentucky, Mildred Renzy of Miami, Florida and Jeanette Amos (Kevin) of Saginaw, Michigan. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. David was preceded in death by his beloved son Adrian Haymon; his parents, Estella Tibbs and James Person; and his brothers, Willie Tibbs and James Leggins. Though David is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. may we honor his life by loving one another deeply, forgiving freely, and embracing each day as the precious gift that it is.
